Gotcha Politicks - Tsunami - Civil Wars - And We Think We Have Problems

Daresay it has not been a boring week on the international front. Japan's unfolding natural disaster...Libya's unrelenting clash of the Titans...it makes issues here in the U.S.A. almost seem meaningless and minuscule in the grand scope of it all. It puts things in perspective...we think we have problems...our problems pale compared to what Japan is currently enduring...My heart goes out to all involved in this mass catastrophe...I couldn't watch any of the footage...I do not know how to hit the Delete Button in my mind to erase the videos...I am in deep humble gratitude and prayer instead...

Meanwhile, back at the farm, our political pettiness and espionage spreads like wildfire. The poisonous venom is constantly being spewed out between the warring factions on the home front...Red vs. Blue.

I must quote the late comic genius - George Burns - "How come everybody who knows how to run the country is busy driving cabs or cutting hair?" And George, I would love to add an addendum to that - "How come everybody who knows how to run the country has their own Talking Head Show?" Or better yet - "How come everybody who knows how to run the country - isn't???"

Politicks is a business like anything else in this country. Who has the right haircut? Who has the best image consultant? Who has the whitest teeth? Who went to the best and right schools? Who has the best sound bytes? Who has the best rhetoric? Who has the best political consultants? Who can run the best smear campaign? Who knows how to take things out of context the best and make video-clips of them? And so on and so forth...

Yes, while everybody is busy shooting from their six-gun-double-speak-lip, the Academy Awards of shaping American political culture congregated in Washington D.C. this past week-end. The Annual Pollies - The American Association for Political Consultants. Personally, I like Political Follies...it better suits their hilarious, slapstick Marx Brothers agenda/act.

Awards were given for overall best campaign managers; best attack ads...and who does the best Social media stuff like Twitter and Facebook? I guess they are busy networking and strategerizing for the 2012 melee called The Election Process...or Gotcha!(http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/03/12/AR2011031204367.html)

Personally, I don't know why anybody wants to be in politicks...to each his own I guess...I guess it's either Hollywood or Politicks if you are a Star for some folks...they both get Oscars and Academy Awards of sorts...the politician's get their award by being elected to office...and there in lies the rub...as soon as folks see how incompetent they are then they have to justify their position to stay in office - by any contrived means possible - it's called Gotcha Politicks.

Gotcha is what happened recently to the Network Executive of PBS - Vivian Schiller who made a not so nice public statement about the Tea Party...Bye - Bye Vivian! What is that saying? Don't bite the hand that feeds you? (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/12/us/12okeefe.html?_r=2&adxnnl=1&ref=politics&adxnnlx=1300107674-R+oeEco1xA+XgLoTWX7txQ)

So no matter what does or does not occur it is still politicks as usual. The one and only question remains - Who is going to run as the Republican Candidate? And are they strong enough to beat the current Inept-Commander-In-Chief? Will it be The Sarah? Michelle? Mike? Mitt? The Donald? Larry - Moe or Curly Joe? Newsflash - No matter who's up there - people are going to find a way to get them out...doesn't matter what party they are.

Once again, my heart goes out to Japan. It is figuratively and literally earth-shattering over there. I wonder what would happen if there were that type of calamity in the U.S. of A? Would everyone put aside their biases and prejudices and be forced to cooperate? No one would be immune...there is not a vaccine for that kind of misfortune upon a nation of people. Would people think Red or Blue Party? Gay or Straight? Black, White, Indian? Christian, Jew or Buddhist? Gotcha Politicks and Political Pollies would be replaced by people actually helping one another for a change...from the heart...not from the lip.

Indeed, we do live in a My Sister Murdered My Parakeet mentality here, don't we?

Love
Micheline
